Records storage company terms: ownership, release and fees
Updated
A company that wants to license its old files has to get them out of storage first, and the storage contract sets the notice, the charges and the order in which things happen.
Who owns what is on the shelves
Access's terms have the client warrant that it is the owner or legal custodian of all the records it stores. RecordPoint's terms say the customer maintains ownership of the data it uploads, and Preservica's have the client warrant that it owns, is a licensee of or has the right to use its data.

Ending the service and collecting the records
Access asks for thirty days' prior written notice to end all services, naming whether the client will collect its records or have them delivered, and treats payment of every outstanding invoice as a precondition. Iron Mountain's glossary builds a permanent withdrawal's handling charge from consolidating every deposit being withdrawn.

Why so few terms are on the board
Most storage firms publish no contract at all: their terms arrive with a quote, or sit behind a sign-in. The ones on the board are what these providers make public, and each row says which questions its document leaves open.
